It's Not Unusual...

We pootled off to see Tom Jones in Ponty on Saturday night... fan-bloody tastic! The legend that is Tom was on top form - seeing him in his home town made for a fantastic atmosphere. We saw Steve Jones from T4 - better looking "live" than he is on the telly... he does like the ladies though - what a sharker! Back to the concert, Tom sang all the favourites- he was on stage for nearly 2 hours. Not bad for a bloke who is due to get his bus pass this week!

Eurovision Poo Contest

how crap was the eurovision song contest last night? Terry was on top form as usual, but he sounded like he's had enough too! We have a tradition of getting together with some buddies to watch the show every year, along with grub and plenty of red wine! The songs definitely get better once a couple of bottles have been sunk :-)

The Dark Side...

Seen it, loved it, must see again! Ok, we all knew what was going to happen - but Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith is still a quality film- awesome! Nearly had me sniffling in a couple of places... quite emotional...

On a comedy note check out Store Wars - Spreading the seeds of Organic rebellion - worth watching for the character names!

In case you are like me and can't get enough of Star Wars :o) here's a link to the special Star Wars section on Sky - http://www.sky.com/showbiz/starwars May the Force be with you....

No more beer please...

Had a cracking time in London this weekend - thanks to the A4u G2G on Thursday followed by the Buy.at 2005 Speakeasy events over Friday and Saturday. I think my blood must be a combination of London Pride and Hoegaarden- best lay off the booze for a bit me thinks.... until the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday that is!

Seriously though, the events were great work wise and socially- however, i'm pretty knackered after 3 days drinking, a fire alarm in the hotel at 3 in the morning (missed the firemen - bugger) and a cavorting elephant in the room above ours (don't ask!) I think i'll come back tomorrow when i can keep the peepers open....zzzzz

Most Haunted Live

Watched 2 nights of the Most Haunted Live event this weekend; what a waste of 6 hours! In case you have no idea what i'm on about, Most Haunted is a show on Living TV now in it's 6th series- where Yvette Fielding (yes, the former Blue Peter presenter) and team investigate haunted locations. Well, the team investigate whilst Yvette antagonises spirts then screams like a big jessie girly when something remotely spooky happens. The Most Haunted Live events take place a couple of times a year and involves live investigations interrupted by more and more ads each time.

Nothing happened, and i mean nothing apart from the presenter Dr David Bull's tan getting deeper by the hour- and everytime the ads finished, the show cut back to Yvette saying "during the ads something spooky happened" - which was conveniently not caught on camera! arrghhhh

I have been an avid watcher of the show- but this last series has seriously turned me off. The whole tone seems to have changed - there are various rumours flying around at the mo- have a squiz on the Most Haunted forum on Living TV for more info.

9 more days to go

9 more days to go! Can't wait till the 19th to get my next fix of Star Wars- just when i thought i couldn't get any more excited, Jason suprised me with a Darth Vadar light saber *hmmmmm light saber* from IWOOT. It is the dogs nads, although i had to go to Morrisons to get some batteries before i could play with it! IWOOT could really take a leaf out of Firebox's book on battery providing. (Plus the free sweeties really go down well too!)

zmmmmmmm, zmmmmmmmmmm can't write more- off to play with my pink sword. ;-)

The Web Experience

Have spent a lot of time on the web today as part of content munkey role and i'm getting pretty hacked off with the ever increasing amount of what i call "intrusive" ads on sites. It's now not enough for sites to launch pop ups and pop unders on every page you visit (*cough* Channel 4) but stick your cursor anywhere near a banner and they now extend further over the page! You try and use the scroller to look down a page- but oh look your cursor has gone over a banner thats now covered up the bit you are trying to look at!! you click the close x, which in most cases ends up diverting you off to the ads landing page... once you get to the original page you wanted in the first place, you scroll down, see what you want, go over to the section..and guess what??!? you've caught the edge of the hover over banner..arrghhhhhhhhh! To navigate these kind of sites requires a kind of circular mouse motion which don't half give you a sore wrist/hand... might have to sue 'em for RSI!
This experience begs the question - are website owners overlooking the user experience in their quest for profit? After all, what use is a website if you've got no users?

opps!

Slapped wrist time - i've just spotted that i've not "blogged" for a week... opps. The box of wine from Laithwaites turned up this afternoon, so i've been enjoying a glass of cheeky Rioja while watching Liverpool beat Chelsea. Come on boys- we'll be Champions soon!
